I know Warhawk has a version of the Texas. Do not know what the 2nd gen looks like, but the original boats sure have a wicked reputation.

i have two of the original earl smith 16 ft. tunnel hulls. one of them is busted up and under an old oak tree. the other i run as a 10 second boat. warhawk makes a great copy of the 16 footer. not long ago there was one for sale on this forum. it belongs to john anderson from near chicago. hes the guy i bought my bare hull from. the broken boat donated the pump, seat, fuel tank and other hardware. in my opinion this is a straight line dragboat only. i don`t think theres a quicker hull out there. the only drawback is that it can pitch your butt in a heartbeat. just be careful if you buy one.

"can pitch your butt in a heart beat"

I can atest to that. I cartwheeled 5 times when mine spit me out at 75 to 80 mph.

Always heard them referd to as "Texas-Git-Wets" for their fondness of pitching drivers.

So what is the common issue here with the 16?...im not saying i am going to build one, they are just a real good looking boat, its a shame that they are not good river boats, but why is this? anyone have any viable info that knows why they are no bueno?
