Default looking for first family jet boat

Hi all, looking for a jet boat for my wife my 2.5 yr old and myself. I have had An I/O ski boat for 7 years and just sold it in hopes of finding a nice jet boat. man finding an Open bow in the 5-6k price range is proving difficult, I am in southern California and would like to go below Parker with the boat, but typically am in the Needles/Topac area. I would like something with open bow but am not against a closed bow. 454 prefer TT headers with a berkley or dominator jet as well as having full stringer. There are some boats for sale in the San Diego area that look nice but the ones I have gone and look at in person are just complete junk IMO( clear coat/ gel coat toast important gauges not functioning. I went and test drove a commander that i was going to buy but oil pressure kept bouncing around and the started failed at the dock after driving it... had to pass to risky for me i guess what im after is some direction is the cheeta a good buy? are crusaders good boats etc etc... should i wait longer ?

I haven't looked at this cheata yet but it looks nice but was told they handle like crap
    cheetah open bow jet boat

This crusader looks ok, but I hate the color and cant find much about the hull
    21' Crusader Jet Boat

Im interested in this boat but haven't made the trip down to see it, I assume at this price point it has some serious issues
    21' Open Bow, Eliminator Jet

i want this but its really far and i dont think hell do a water test Bahner jet

I was talking to that eliminator when I was just looking, and just my $0.02 but I'd look else where. Doesn't seem like the takes care of it. Just used the hell out of it...

I saw that crusader after I purchased my Howard. There is a couple others out there right now. Just keep your eye out and watch them drop in price right.

My budget last year for a used boat was 15K I looked at alot of boats San Diego is home base we went to Yuma and to Long beach and all stops in between looked at over a dozen boats and in my opinion they were all in need of alot of work ,Seems like the big deal out there are these guys selling hull only minus motor, trying to get top dollar for the hull by the time you build a motor, your at a brand new boat price with a 1982 hull makes no sense. So your budget may have to increase just keep in mind there will be some work involved the right boat is out there.

Yea trying to get a boat that needs least amount of work. And not interested in building one at the moment. 5k is what the wife gave me... the crusader is looking better and better... guess I'll have to make a trip to look at it. Wish I would have jumped on this nordic i found when it was for sale still.

The Eliminators are great hulls. It's not worth the $6k he's asking. I think both are a little overpriced for the condition.

I loved my Eliminator. Wish I still had it some days.

Thanks for the input I thought they were priced high also... the cheetah is scary after really looking at it. Why does he have a marine radio in it????? The bahner is the only one worth looking at but it's 3 hrs away

Yours sold for $9,000 and it didn't even run?

I'm the owner of the Bahner, and I always put my boats in the water, If a seller won't put his/her boat in the water, I would pass on the sale. No problem!
