    Default Need some Ford help

My Olds spun some bearings and I bought a 460 out of an old RV. I stripped it down and the pistons are marked 0.01. Sure enough, the guy at the machine shop said the pistons are 0.01 oversize. He also said that the bores are still good. Anybody heard of pistons and rings 0.01 oversize? I don't know if I should get honed and put it back together or to get it bored out some more.

What kind of RPM do you want it to turn? If above 5000, I'd go 0.030" over and go forged.

I called the machine shop today and decided I am going to get some forged pistons and go .030 over.
