    Seems the thrust Bearing failed. Im new at this....


    Ended up pushing on the crank and destroying a motor too!

    imo i would replace the impellor if it has much damage, did not see it in the photos, the suction housing and hand hole plug can be repaired with marine grade epoxy i.e. marine tex. if it is too bad have seen several housings and pumps in the spam section at very resonable prices. i would also verify that the shaft is good and straight and has not been fubarred from the trauma. good luck. pm me if you need any help.

    Hmmmm, that's a lot of foward movement...I wonder if it hurt the crankshaft thrust bearing too.

    I have seen a thrust bearing go out and even crack the back bearing mount on the block! And ohh yes all was carnage (AKA Scrap)!

    how long was that spinning before you shut it down? Im just curious as to how fast it cut all that up...

    less than 1 minute would be my best guess. I started to feel a loss of rpm, let off the throttle, looked back, the transom was covered in oil. I new there was a BIG problem when oil shot of the rear main.

    in your horse power range ,imo, money will be well spent on a 17-4 shaft and bronze or stainless impellor. buy wise buy once it will be cheaper in the long run.
