Default Twin Turbo Glastron CV-21 project

Hello -I have some questions about my twin turbo build which I'll post eventually but first I wanted to share the backstory of my project for those who are interested.

Back in the 70's/80's when I was a kid growing up along the south shore of Lake Ontario there were a ton of Glastron Carlson jet boats all within a few miles from each other, including the CV-19 my father owned. My next door neighbor "Doc" had a 1972 Carlson CV-21 which was unique because that was the only year they came in green metal-flake so it stood out when all the other Carlsons were either gold or blue. That boat was also unique because he was running a Gale Banks twin turbo 850HP kit and it was the fastest boat in the county for years. The boat ran around 90. For years I spent my summers riding in his boat while we raced and blew the doors off anything that had an engine.. it was a blast and by far my favorite childhood memory! The only problem is all the racing we did came with a price.. he blew the engine 6 or 7 times within the 15 years he was running the Banks kit. In 1992 after the 7th time, he sold the boat with the stock 455 olds and sold the blown engine for parts. I was 14 when he sold the boat and that was the last time I ever saw it.
As an adult I spent 10+ years looking for it. Posting craigslist ads, buying boat trader mags, I even wrote a letter to the person who bought the boat back in 92. He said he sold the boat to a co-worker who then traded it for a snowmobile. My dream of owning this boat was pretty much shot especially since finding ANY CV-21 nowadays is rare and especially since they only made a green CV-21 one year.. 1972. I was looking for a 1972 CV-21 aka needle in a haystack. Fast forward to Oct 2011.. I found one! It wasn't Doc's boat and it wasn't pretty, but it was a 72 CV-21. I had it shipped from Missouri to home and together with the help of my father we fixed the stringers, put in a new floor & interior and made a replica of Doc's "Mint Pati" (minus the turbo'd engine).

Here are some pics of Doc's boat from 1979

Ok, back to the reason why I started this thread. In order to make this project complete, I need to have this boat twin turbo'd. I posted a thread on this site years ago asking what it would take to make a safe and reliable turbo engine and received good advice. Good pistons, good ignition, good fuel delivery and valve-train were all brought up. For that last 3-4 years I've been buying and collecting parts to make a strong foundation and finally as of Feb 2016, I have my completed long block.

    Gen 6 BBC 509
    JE Blower pistons 8.1 compression
    Scat H beam rods
    GM Forged Crank
Comp Cam Camshaft -custom grind for turbo
Gen 6 BBC Iron Heads with Inconnel Valves
Comp Cam Ultra Pro Magnum Rockers
    MSD ignition

The shop that built the engine ran it on the dyno N/A and she made 550 HP at 5500 RPM, 593 TQ at 4100 RPM.

My goal is to run a twin turbo setup on pump gas and keep boost low so it doesn't blow up!. I purchased a Gale Banks kit with the 301 E 10 RayJays, but it only has the smaller intercooler. My question to you guys is, will this kit work with the engine I had built? I understand draw thru is old school and a lot of guys hate on it... but will it work regardless?

Beautiful boat....I don't really know anything about turbos.....I just wanted to point out that the engine is enclosed so watch the amount of heat that is radiated off the turbos....You might want to increase the airflow thru the engine compartment. Maybe rig up some bilge blowers that can run(With a timer) after you have shut down, to keep the temps down under the FG hood.

You need to get a hold of "Obnoxious 001"-Barry Obler. He's the "Banks Guru". He worked for Gale Banks during the heyday. He knows exactly how the engines are suppose to be set up. Extremely reputable, knowledgeable and honest guy. Re-post in the "GN-7 on the dyno" section. He reads that section.

That sounds pretty cool. Would like to see some pics! When you reply, press the icon with the "paperclip" which will prompt you to upload a picture or two.

I’m pretty sure I have the boat he spoke about earlier, from the 70’s. When I get the time I will post some pictures. I bought it and the floor was shot. It’s been sitting a few years now. I found this post trying to research what an original interior is supposed to look like. I was planning on ripping out the floor this summer

There is a rip on the cover at the bow, you can see the eye ring that I was talking about. I only guessed it was to pull the boat out of the water
