    Default Mallory Ignition Parts?

Does anyone within 100 miles of Bakersfield actually stock parts for Unilite dizzys? I'm supposed to be heading to Lake Mead in the morning, my farking Unilite module bought the farm! Does anyone know any speed or marine shops that stock these? If so where?

    Thanks

Look for the Accel #2005 module. Same part, less than 1/2 the price ($39.95 at Summit, but it's yellow)

In case you have had chronic module failures, Unilites are sensitive to bad grounds, voltage spikes, and require ballast resistors.

Thanks for the tip! I think the Auto Zoo near my house sells Accel stuff! I'm going to head there as soon as they open!

    Had a bad ground- Fixed
Ordered a new module- Voltage Spike killed it.
Ballast resistor is in, ground is good now, will add a surge protector this time.
I ought to just junk it and get a R2R MSD set up!

If you run a MSD (or any amplifier) your problems will go away as the Unilite will merely be a trigger and not pass any current of consequence.

I'm starting to think that's what I need to do, I've tried to keep my system simple but I guess it's time to step into the 1990's

Up to this point, my Mallory system has been flawless, no hassles, always started, ran great. I fucked up and gave it a bad ground, that's what killed the module, then I tried to start the boat with a jumper box, voltage spike killed #2.

I'm hoping I can find another module to get me back on the water while I shop for and MSD setup.

Yupper......I'm one of those people. Been running the same Mallory unilite with the original module in it. It's been on two different motors and two different boats in the past 10 years. Ran it originally with a ballast resistor and Mallory super coil. Now it's hooked up to an MSD 6AL without a ballast resistor and using a MSD blaster II coil. Never a hiccup. I carry a spare module, but it's still in the original packaging. Never had to use it.

Of course the first time I leave the house without it........I'll likely be needing it.

Did that 3 years ago, boat has run beautifully ever since.

And I can add a box if I ever see the need to, or never.
