    Default Placecraft 23 Deck

JUST WANTED TO GIVE A QUICK UPDATE ON MY NEW BUILD. FINALLY CAME UP WITH A COLOR SCHEME, THAT IS NO EASY TASK WHEN YOU HAVE UNLIMITED CHOICES. THROW IN THE OPINION OF YOUR 13 YEAR OLD SON AND WIFE, IT MIGHT BE TIME TO HAVE A DRINK. THE FADE WILL GO THROUGH THE REAR OF THE BOAT AS WELL. DECIDED TO GO WITH THE 496 H.O. FROM MARINE POWER (450 H.P.) AND CMI DUAL WALL STAINLESS STEELE HEADERS (ADDS ANOTHER 60 H.P.) SO BY THE TIME THEY GET DONE WITH THE ENGINE I SHOULD BE AT 510 HORSE POWER. THE BOAT GOES INTO THE MOLD FIRST PART OF 3.23.09 WEEK. AS ALWAYS RON AND SCOTT HAMILTON ARE ABSOLUTLY GREAT GUYS TO DEAL WITH. AS FAR AS SETTING UP THE JET, I AM GOING TO LEAVE IT UP TO THEM (ITS WHAT THEY DO BEST).UILD..

I have 3 friends who have that boat, 2 are 23's and 1 is a 28. All I/O, going jet on that just seems weird.

    But the scheme looks hot!

Don't get your hopes up on the +60hp. Headers on an HO are good for 25-40 - depending on application. Per dyno results at the prop, +60 would MAYBE be attainable if they were dry.

    Agreed.
Im really don't see the 496 being good for this application. I think there's more research that should be done by the buyer, such as talking to a company that builds a similar boat.

By the way, that design/ colors looks bitchin!

I think he means not an option FOR HIM. He explained in another thread that he's afraid of his kids being around props.

Man, that 28 is sweet! I didn't know they started making a 28. Good for them!

Not to be a downer but, I have a few freinds with that boat and they take some time to get on plane with the jet. I have seen one that moves right along with about a 1000 hp to it though. I was going to buy one years ago but passed.I still like the looks of them.

Personal choice would be a 21 ultra deck with a jet.

    good luck with your build.

I can't add any knowledge on how a jet will work in there..but i think that's one of the hottest deck boats around! Good luck with your new ride. Don't worry, it takes a while for my sled to get on plane sometimes with a full load..but once you're rollin the party's on!

Its number 2 of the 2 ever built. Its a very cool boat, the gel looks insane in person, rides awesome and moves with an HO...there are a few minor design flaws that need to be perfected, but all around on of my favorite boats to drink on!

    here's a few pics I have...

Congrats on the Placecraft. I've always liked their boats, still may end up with one later on. My uncle has one of their 22' with the 502/jet combo and it did just fine. It wasn't a race boat but it is a bitchen "family" boat.

My 21' TPR with 400 hp would bairly get out of its own way. With 736 hp its a great ride. I would take another look into your power. I would look into the 502 or more.
