    Default Tahiti (model unknown)

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what model Tahiti this is. I know it has a 455 and a Berkeley Jet Drive. I was told by the owner he had it out last year and was doing about 70 75 does that sound accurate or is he trying to sell me a boat. It appears to be in good condition better than the Scorpion I posted in the outdrive forum this would be a lot better platform to do a project on. Any info you guys could give would help me out thanks

it was called the 22 Offshore, or the 20 Executive depending when it was built. The guys in the shop called it the Toad. if it did 75 it did it being towed down the freeway. I've been looking for one for years.

Haha pulled down the freeway, so was that a pretty good hull for high speed? Also since you said you've been looking he only wants 1500 for it with the trailer and he ran it last year. If your still looking

I have no idea what a stock toad would run on the top end with an Oldsmobile but I doubt it would be very deep into the 60s. As you can imagine they ride great. I only like them because they were being built when I was a kid and dad was a rigger there. A few guys raced them off shore, Jake Gilbreth for one, he owned Gil marine back in the day.

    Where's the boat located?

thanks Mr.goslo, that's way too far to go buy an old Tahiti...even a Toad. On the other hand, Poncho's friends boat might be well worth the drive.

Far is a relative term. There is nothing that says you have to go all the way there. You just need to find the right empty hitches heading the right directions. Burley is in two weeks and should be about half way.

Could be there in a couple of hours if someone needed it picked up. My cross country truck won't be done until Tuesday though.

Funny story, had a guy bring a Toad to Double Eagle and wanted it painted. He had got the boat for a debt owed. I looked at the boat shot him a price to refinish in solid colors. We agreed on a price went in the office to write it up his wife/girlfriend says how much to do it white and some of that blue speckie paint. I explained how much harder it was to shoot metal flake and shot her another price. She batted her eyes at him and I was looking at a 2500.00 plus materials payday, big money back in the day. I worked out a payment deal where he would pay x amount upon completion of primer, x amount at base coat and x amount at completion and delivery. I thought it was kind of strange when he paid the deposit in 10.00 bills out of a brown paper bag. I got the boat in primer called him for payment he shows up in a new vette and settled up in 10.00 bills out of a brown paper bag. When I finished the base coat he comes in a 911 Porche with a Carrera package, and again with the 10's out of the bag. I get the boat done and he show up with a new Dulley and his wife/Girlfriend to pick it up the boat it looked great and we went in the office to settle up. She makes the statement that the only thing she does'nt like is the alum trim around the deck and hull and would like it better if it was all one piece like the flatbottom I had just capped. I explained that to cap the boat I would have to grind all the blue fake off glass the seam together and reflake. She batts her eyes at the guy I shoot him a price (being the sales closer/whore I am) he paid me off and left the boat to be capped. I cap the boat reshot the flake and called him to pick it up, no answer. I try for months to get ahold of the guy and nothing. It was a year or so latter and a couple DEA agents show up and want to know if I have this boat. I had covered it and put it out back under storage. I uncover it and show it to them they explain that this guy was a major drug dealer and that him and his wife/girl friend were going to jail for a long time. They were seizing all his assets. I asked them about how I was going to get paid for what I had done. The Agent tells me to submit a bill for the entire job and they will pay it out of the cash they had seized. I would like to tell you that I submitted a bill for the cap and reflake. Before I finish this story I would have to check the statue of limitations. Lets just say it was a banner year.
