    Question Jet pump pressure gauge?

I am new to the forum, Can some one post some links as to how I can measure the pump pressure after the impeller in the pump bowl. What type of gauge and fittings do I need? Also what pressure numbers can I expect to see? I am new to the jet pump world! I tried the search forum but nothing came up. Thanks for all you help. Tommy Jordan

you may also want to monitor suction housing pressure before the impeller(lengthy subject)
I have had a jet drive for many years and never had a need for a pressure gauge on my bowl ,and lets just say I am not the fastest boat in my area by far . Or maybe if you are going to race it at some level, then this is where I have seen guys at the boat drags do the suction ports w/ data collection
there could be many variables to the original questions , hull design , jet drive ,motor hp,intake set-up, nozzle diameter. what is the intended use and what are your goals?.

I'd guess if you wanted to go that route you could tap your droop snout at 12 O'clock with a 1/8th inch -4 or -6 nipple. Then you'd need a liquid filled gauge that reads up to 400 psi ?? Not sure how much psi a pump puts out on the exhaust end.

Much is to be gained on the intake side, not sure on the exit side

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it's not the exit pressure that moves the boat, correct ?

I am not a jet boat guy. But I have been following this thread for some time. See post 289 here. He references bowl pressure and you can probably ask questions from there. If the link doesn't work, it is the "Anyone know the History of this Placecraft" thread.

    Post pictures of your boat.

If you want to know if the work you've done on your pump has made it more efficient then get a good GPS and measure the speed at different RPMs and compare the performance. It's a far better indicator than is how much psi in in the bowl or exit nozzle

Now post up a couple pictures of your boat
