Default If it isnt one thing

Its another. Took the boat out and oil pressure started acting way funny. Well when it was all said and done after tearing into the filter to check for the worst this is what i found. Seems sum silicone made its way to the pick up. Dont know where its from i can only think its from the oil pan gasket that was trashed. Oil pressure never droped below 30 while driving but at idle it was at like 10 and thats not what im use to So i guess i take the next few weeks and do sum cleaning and trailor matience. Geeeeeees

Bottom end looks clean as a whistle from what i can see. Gunna look it over real well to make sure there isnt anymore pieces of silicome floating around.

    1) Thoroughly clean pickup tube.
    2) Fully disassemble oil pump and make sure that there is no sealer in the gerotor mecahnism and--equally as important--not in the bypass piston bore which could hold the bypass port open and cause lower oil pressure.
    3) Change oil filter
    4) Use spealer sparingly when building an engine.

Your noted oil pressure readings are not alarming and I'll bet that your engine is fine. Woudln't hurt to inspect bearings while you are in there....but you are probably just fine.

Good that you caught it early, should be back on the water pretty quick. 10lbs. huh, you sayin I should worry then too?

Try not to use so much silicone when you go back together with it ok.

That cant be. I have a buddy that builds motors and he uses it on all his builds. He said its never done that. Some he built 7-9 years ago.
And on the bottle it says oil, ATF, brake fluid and fuel will not break it down. You sure you didnt have some sillycone on your intake or oil pan gasket?

It was a long drive home. I prepaired for the worst but hoped for the best.

Its all good, will clean things up, check a bearing and be back on the water in a few weeks.

When installing silicone wait ten minutes before installation. Silicone must skin over. Pat

Your bearings should be fine. Once my oil is hot, I run 23 psi at idle.

Yea, get all that sealer out and don't use too much going back together. A little goes a looooooooong ways.

    Good luck Fo.
