Default New For NJBA 2017 Race Season

January 21, 2017
Hello People
Making some improvement to the 149 Tsunami race program. To start, the keel was up graded, to help control the flow of water.

To handle the improved water flow, the impeller will change to one of these, Aggressor Impellers; 2A Mag Bronze or 3A Stainless Steel. Between the two, there will be the “sweet spot” I’m looking for.

Hello People
Hass,
I decided not to buy any of those “HIP” jet drive processed parts yet. It will not do any good until I get the loading of the jet under control, the keel has been reworked, the loader pad/loader transition updated.
I did get a new Berkeley Bowl and made some modifications based on what damage was occurring in the bowls that were destroyed.
MPD, Jack and I talked about the transition changes for a long time and conclude the mods I wanted are worth trying to see if the vanes hold up longer. The leading edge of the vanes in the bowl was moved until the manufacturing cuts on the gussets were abated and then reshaped, different design on the stuffer plate for direction control. Theoretical design change should create a low pressure spot and help the water transition faster.

Default MPH Rules - Better Control
There goes that MPH Rule
February 8, 2017

Hello People

Mike

With the new control features in place and the boat having a better response time from the new features, the MPH rule will be not a problem, the ET from start to finish will have occurred before the speed kick in.

Default NJBA 2017 - 1st Race March 2017

March 20, 2017
Hello People
Just wanted to thank all the people who were instrumental in taking the 149 Tsunami into the finals against one of the quickest Un-Blown Fuel Jets, Steve Penberthy.
The first pass was a disaster; I had the equipment too far for the new Bennett Hull, the hull performed like it was designed to, keep the boat loaded. Just a few more adjustments and we'll put more power to it.

Jim Brock again was the best ever advisor and friend made the adjustments that took us to the final.
Thank you to the people who made it happen:
Jeff Bennett
Jim Brock
Jack McClure
Robert Johns

Default New Hull - Jeff Bennett

April 15, 2017
Hello People
Just want to say that the 2017 new intake transition by Bennett is working as predicted. The hull vacuum from launch to race completion was completely negative as it should be and no indications that it lost contact of the water. The bowl was responding a lot better than before and the psi swing from low to high was less.
The psi of the top intake sensor has never gone from zero to 70 plus as a straight line up and the bottom respectively responded to the new transition positively too.
As you can see from the graph, there is more room to improve on the top and bot intake response to where in the track gets bumpy, everybody has the same animal to tame and we are getting close to what we need as we run the number.

By the way, there are no smoothing filters applied to the graph

Sorry had wrong graph

Default 2.5 A cut Brass Impeller

April 17, 2017

Hello People
The choice of impellers was narrowed down to a version of 2.5 A Brass that seems to be getting the job done. As you can see from the graph that the impeller is being spun at 7950rpms with a mild tune on.
Next race I may stand on it a little, just depends on the new bowl and how it fairs to the current horse power and hardware setup.

willis, it kind of looks like your max setpoint for bowl pressure is set too low in QD? looks like it's table topping. you may want to see if you can raise that setting and get the actual pressures...

Hello People
BP
I have the setting @ 700 and -20, the max point in the graph is 524psi. I will change the setting to 1000 and Zero.

If it's only a 500 psi transducer it won't matter what the graph scale is set on. You probably should have a 1000 psi transducer in the location.
