Looking into what you guys use for a kill switch I've used the chepo plastic ones w/ the wire spring and seems after a short period the cap keeps popping off or it breaks anything out there better pics would be a plus ,ready to buy if someone makes a good one.

Most of the ones I've seen on our type boats are the round Merc Marine style. This is the setup I went with. Two seasons with no issues. I haven't had to use it yet. "knock on wood"

This type has been in my boat since I've had it. No problems for 10 years or so.

Not sure which you have, I always ran the black Merc racing type and kept spare caps. In a pinch you can use a zip tie on a loose one

Haven't nailed down a solution yet, but I was looking into an RFID wireless solution. Like new luxury cars have, where the key is in your pocket and the vehicle wont start unless you're inside the car. Key FOB inside, it starts. Hold it out the window, no start. Figured something like that could be secured directly to a PFD, cutting power when the vest is 3 feet from it's normal seated location.

Just sharing the thought. Lemme know if you guys come across something like that

Not sure it's a million dollar idea, but it would be a great product for Mercury to offer. Maybe include it with their Mercury Racing engines line-up. Build it right into their Smart Gauge (or whatever they call it) and have a standalone unit to retrofit any other engine. It's the future! I can see it all now. LOL

I've used the Mercury kill switch in my old Jersey Speed Skiff and my recent jet sprint boat. I think some of the racing classes use them. The local garvey and speed skiff racers use them here in NJ. I would suggest having a spare cap on hand if you do decide to go with that style.

If you got $200+ bucks to spend and don't know if it's accepted by race sanctions

if you need a manual kill , I'm trying to get some thing in the works , ive got an idea ... Just trying to get someone to put it into fabrication if it can be done at a reasonable cost ? Check back here in a few weeks
