Question Heard a boat sunk today near Laughlin/Needles area

Heard that Jim Rich was using the CJ72 to pull a boat off some rocks, something went wrong and the CJ72 is now sitting on the bottom of the river.
Anybody hear anything? Hopefully he'll recover it before too much damage is done, don't think he'll be racing tomorrow though...........

I'm not sure when it happened, I'm assuming everyone is ok, that's the biggest concern, the boat can be replaced

I just called him. His boat is sitting on it's headers upside down on the bottom of the river in a strong current. He's looking for help to get him out.

He was pulling a boat from a dock and the guy hadn't un hooked two ropes as Jim pulled away the current caught his boat side-ways when he realized the guy was still tied up he hit the gas and snapped one of the ropes the other rope still had him and let the cross current start filling the boat up.

He said the current was 12-14 mph last night so no one could do anything

Looks like he won't be racing today

    Now that sucks.

Something like " No good deed goes un-punished" would be just a tad bit more appropriate, but to each his own.

If I was the guy that was being helped when this happened I would be doing everything in my power to get this poor guys boat back in one piece. No excuse for stupidity. Hope it all works our with little damage.

with that current, all you need to do is hook up to the front of the boat somehow and start moving up river. The bottom of the boat will naturally lift and bring it to the surface. The tough part is getting it to the ramp unless someone can get into the boat to pull the plug while it's moving to let the water out.

how deep is the water it's in?

Just be gentle with it or you will rip the gunnels out or even worse, rip the transom out with all the water in their. I pulled a flat that fliped and sunk at big river with my cruiser. Not a big deal really. Pull a few jet boats up down by the Avi as well. just get someone in the boat and start bailing and pull the plug(s) if you can
