Default Similarities between Oldsmobile and Chevrolet 3 point mounts

    Hello all,
I have a question about possible interchangeability between an Oldmobile 3 point mount and a Chevrolet engine. Would be a temporary kind deal, but I'm curious if there are engine mounts for a Chevrolet block that would bolt onto the Olds front crossmember/mount? At the time I was too lazy to go grab a tape measure (my hand was already holding a beer), but I was looking at the space between the block mount holes where an Olds used to reside in my old Kona (this was a small block Olds boat) sure looked similar to the space between the two POL tubular SBC to BBC engine swap brackets that were loosely bolted in place on my '68 GMC that I'm ALSO knee deep into a BBC swap on!

So, I got intrigued and took the Oldsmobile bellhousing and set it over a SBC block that is fresh back from the machine shop (another project). The Olds bellhousing sat right onto the SBC, with the two Dowell pins seemingly aligning it perfectly centered over the crank. Also, the lower two bolt holes aligned perfectly with the lower two holes on the block. This bellhoising that I speak of is approx 1/4" steel plate. With slight modification (welding a tab in place and drilling a couple of holes) it seems that the bellhousing could work wonderfully. I wouldnt use a 3 point mount for over 500 HP anyway, so ut seems like it could possibly be used to facilitate a swap prior to finding the right 4 point mount in the parts spam section. So, I'm now curious, has anyone used the Olds stuff to mount a SBC/BBC? Sure seems like it could be used with very little work. Also, the Olds in my boat is hooked up to a 1310 PTO, that's got a dual bolt pattern drilled, for both Oldsmobile and Chevrolet crank patterns. Seems like it just wants to go together. Anyone with experience with this?

    Default Get it right..

Get the right stuff and avoid a multitude of head aches... You are right, the parts spam section is your friend when doing swap projects.... BTW, Olds motors are all the same size outside...350/455 same external size...
