    Hey guys new to the fourms ---

    I have been trying to read up on this new jet boat I just got. I just can't seem to much info. Alittle but not much. Seems like some people have them but not many.

    I recently picked up a Condor tx-18 Pickle Fork Tunnel hull jet boat. This is my fathers brother and I's project and fun time.. We picked it up off our family friend. and its been siting for 10+ years in his barn. He got it and never got the motor to run right.
    We got it all running again but bottem end had a spun bearing so we got motor our and re-doing it in the garage as I am typing this. It looks like a mean jet boat and tbh I just wanted to know some stuff about it. What will this thing do with the mild 454 we got in it now?? The 454 that came with it is pretty much stock but a mild/heavy cam and we just threw an 870 holly on the top of it and got rid of the tunnel ram for time being until we had motor running good. We don't have alot fo trust in the motor we are going to run it this year and build a motor this winter for it.

    What kinda of speed these boats rated for?
    Are they a good hull? etc?
    How much this boat worth you think?


    We picked it up for 4k with trailer motor.. extra carbs.. extra headers.. it has electric jetavator -- dominator pump .. thats really all we know about it.

    I have one of these hulls. Got one of the last ones built by Ervin Capps. The later hulls were fitted with aluminum air plates at the end of the tunnels. Owned it for 25 years, gone thru lots of upgrades, had Ervin update the bottom in 2013, made a huge improvement. It's a good hull but even with the bottom upgrade, it's challenged to compete on the top end with a Daytona style tunnel with an upgraded bottom. Also, does not cut thru big chop as well, so it's a rougher ride. Due to the small sponsons, it's easy to stuff them, heard of people breaking one off in rough water. Another small sponson challenge is getting soaked from a sheet of water coming over the bow from boat wakes while idling around; fix is to blip the throttle with the jetovator up to get the bow to ride high over the wake. The good is when properly set up, the holeshot is spectacular! Due to the short stringers, the seating position is more carlike, as the dashboard position is much higher compared to Daytona style tunnels. They are capable of triple digit speed, with 500HP it should do around 80MPH. Not sure the value, like all jetboats, depends wildly on condition and market area.
