    Default De-winterizing

Gonna pull the boat out tomorrow and get it ready to run this weekend. The engine is filled with a 50/50 mix of water and anti-freeze. Can I drain this into the original containers and save it to reuse next year without any problems?? Also is there anything important that I should do prior to running it again after sitting since November?? It's sat full of oil and the oil, oil filter, and fuel filter all have very little time on them, will they be fine running them for part of this year??

I'm itching to get back on the river and run the piss out of the old hawaiian a full season and see how see holds up.

    Thanks guys.

Glad to hear you're getting ready for the river again. Since you probably didn't buy the biodegradeable antifreeze; the correct method of disposal is to put it in a sealed container and take it down to the hazardous waste turn in point and pay them to dispose of it for you. Or you could put your boat in the water and just let it run (the environmentally incorrect way of doing it) or save it for some other purpose such as poisoning small animals, pouring it down ant hills, or any other place you may discretely pour it out at.

I change the oil in the pump and the motor. Water has a tendency to condense inside. Cheap insurance! Our dump has a free drop off point for antifreeze. So does Schucks and Napa. Oil and antifreeze gets dropped off in one stop!

Thanks. I plan on getting some video this year, maybe even this weekend, and some much better pictures, using my girlfriends good camera. Nope the good ole "kills everything it touches" stuff. Na my drinking water comes from that river, I'm not doing that. So is there something wrong with saving it and reusing it?? I know it sounds kinda silly, but I'm a cheap ass.

    Whats de-winterizing???
Dont drain the anti-freeze. Just head down to the lake and fire her up. It will come out.

Thanks Tom. Not on the river but it flows into the river. I'll get some of the river hopefully this weekend.

    And lastly my motivation shot.

i'm not one to typically worry about this stuff but dumping the antifreeze in the water where you will swim and your kids may swim doesn't sound like a good idea. drain it out into a bucket and use it next year. then hook up the hose and run fresh water through it to make sure it's cleaned out.

change your oil and filters. good insurance.
