I just got a 91 Advantage open bow 20.5.
With it sitting on the trailer, the steering wheel can be turned from stop to stop with my little finger. Put it in the water and it like wrestling a bear. The pump is an American Turbine ATJ with trim. I ask because my last boat (78 Southwind) would turn on a dime with no effort at all. Any ideas or fixes come to mind? Thanks.
perhaps you could post a photo of your pump. does it have a A.T. droop snoop?
how old is the cable?
can you move it easily by pushing the nozzle back and forth from stop to stop while watching the steering wheel turn?
have you or previous owner adjusted the P.D, in such a way it might have a jam? for example someone attempting to shoot a very high rooster,
to show off
Does it make any difference what position the P.D. is in when you feel it bind?
I do not know just throwing ideas at the wall to see if any thing sticks.
