Default ? regarding round keel vs flat

I looked at a 21 Daytona today that someone is selling . its a 79 , and if I looked at it correctly ,there is about 1 1/2"that is flat on either side of the center spoones(spelling?)and the middle is round . so my ? is, round or flat . this sounds like a dump question . but id like to be sure. also there is a small check on the right side tunnel about 4" long (top of deck and nothing on the bottom ) going horizontal . Its about 4' from the very front of the boat. I would guess just normal wear givin the age of the boat . Whats your thoughts . Boat looks over all pretty good shape . Never beached , balsa core interior. looks pretty original. Owner says his dad was the original owner

    Default 21 Daytona

The 21 always had a rounded keel. The 19 was the only tunnel that had the flat keel.

You are right about the keel changes.
My brother in law had a 19' that kept "eating" aluminum impellers. He took it to eliminator and they rounded his sponson forward of the intake. Fixed everything.

Now, this BIL of mine was and is an idiot. He went through his boat and spent big bucks to bring it up to "Bad Ass" then let it sit in a field and become home to ferrul cats. Then got pissed and let it go for pennies on the dollar.

Mouzer, you met him in Corona!!!

I'm sure that the keel is the same contour as the pump, or darn close to it.

That would be a true statement unless he had a flat keel intake.

    Yeah, what he said.
The intake on my BIL's boat was changed to a round botton.
