    Default Help with bowl bushings???

I posted something similiar to this but i figured the jet guys would look in here more frequently than the norcal section.

Im located in sacramento and all the machine shops are closed. Im looking to get the bushings into the bowl today/tomorrow so i can finish the jet install and hopefully get the motor set this weekend.

Ive got beer on it for ya

Matt, we make the bushing drivers to install those. A little late to help you for this weekend though.

Anyone driving to Sacto tomorrow? I will be in the shop this afternoon.

definately better to have the proper tool but if your lucky enough to have a socket that is real close to the bore size it can be done if your careful . use the back side of the socket , it's usually got a squarer corner and put it on a extension to hammer on . if you have the berkeley bowl with the gap between the bushings put em in from each end , don't try and jump the gap . good luck , it's a drag to be held up over a tool you don't have , which i'm sure your going to get right

No doubt after this little hickup im most likley gonna splurge and get the kit from CP performance... Getting the impeller off was a task until fleetimus came to the rescue lol.

    EDIT:

About 3 minutes and very very little effort i have SUCCESS! lol

thats exactly how i got mine. I was lucky and my socket had a taper ont he top so it fit in there perfect when i put the exstention on backwards.

Yep, it's a 3-minuite job with a bearing driver set, no machine shop required.

The gap in a Berk bowl is smaller than the bushing is wide, so it's no big deal to "jump" it.

I didnt jump the gap just incase somethin got stuck or my luck went to all hell.. I just drove one from each side. got my pump completed. Tomorrow gonna hack up an old pto and weld an old 1/2" dr. socket on it and make a spline socket, i needed one dearly today lol. Guess the only tool im really gonna purchase is the impeller puller. Fleetimus proved to me its well worth the money upon pump dismantling, after i fumbled with a 3 jaw puller for 2 hrs lol.

Prepped the bilge today for paint, gotta grab some bilgecoat but all i can find is white . Id like to find some dark grey. and DAMN that stuff is expensive... I dont wanna drop in the pump or motor without finishing that off.. Im about a week away from the water.

    EXCITED!!

The right tools make the job easy. One of these years I'll need an impeller puller, but, I don't dismantle my pump NEARLY as often as some people.
Last time it was perfect for something like 16 years.

Best of luck to ya. Lowrider is sitting this year, shortage of funds to complete the bowl-aft changes since I broke nozzle parts last fall. Oh well.
