Yeah our races started in Riggins this year and unfortunatley ended this year at Riggins. It wasn't due to a lack of purse money but just not enough people could make the races. Hopfully next year will look a little bit brighter.

Nope that's it James were done! We were going to Hoopa in about a week but there were only 6 boats making the race, Boatnik was a wash. The Active club told the racers their not wanted even though most sponsors were looking forward to the Jets showing up. Yep looks like it's going to be a loooong summer. Hell I had to sell my Eagle due to the economy and being a calif. state employee.

Thats rough for sure, the economy is killing alot of things, there is no doubt about that.

Dunno what its going to take to get this sport to the next level, some new thinking is in oder tho, that Im sure of.

Well I can tell you this James, I have been selling clips to some pretty big Production companies lately. TNT,Discovery, and have also been approached by A&E. I just got another email from NBC sports just yesterday. The problem is we don't have enough boats to make a good show latlely. I realize that when it comes to feeding the family or going racing alot of people are going to put family first, And that's how it should be. If we could have gotten this media coverage back in the early 90's it might have taken off. Most people still have never heard of the sport still to this day. The guy I talk to yesterday was born in Oregon and had still never heard of the sport. Thats funny too because Boatnik has been around as long as Riggins has. It's just an unkown sport and with the help of Youtube and other virial media outlets it is getting more and more recogition everyday.

The toughest part is trying to attract some fresh blood to inject into the sport. I don't think we'll see that until this world ecomony gets back on its feet again. Most of the clips I sold will be airing this summer or early fall. It's a start, word of mouth seems to work better than anyting I've seen though. Take Riggins this year there were so many people their it was crazy. Jesse and Lynn tried to make a hotel reservation for next year and the town was already booked solid. They are on a waiting list to get a motel room so they can race next year. So certain parts of the races now have HUGE fan followings others are just average. I think in time it will continue to grow just not by leaps and bounds.
