Default Hello everyone I'm new here.

Hi my name is Ben, last month I bought a 1978 Rochelle, 20ft open bow with a bbf and a Berkley jf pump. I know needs some clean up but it will keep me busy in the winter. I have been searching for Info about the boat but have come up with little. Wondering if anyone on here has any info for me? Imp kind of hard on stuff so I hope this is a stung hull lol. Well thanks allot.

    Welcome aboard Ben.

    Ben,

Welcome. I used to have the exact boat which was an Omega. Story goes that they made two Omegas at the same time (first two out of a new mold). They planned to sell a bunch of their "new" boats at the L.A. boat show that year. The guy who owned Rochelle sent a friend to buy the spare. They took it to the shop, changed the name plates on it and entered it in the boat show as a Rochelle where they sold several boats. They quickly made a mold of the Omega after the show and began producing boats. LOL...life in the early days of jetboats.

Anyway, I've got a bunch of info on them somewhere.....believe they were produced in Downey Calif. if my memory banks are correct.

Anyway, Duane Oblander and I were able to get mine running 72 mph after throwing lots of money and work at it. I straightned the bottom, did a setback on the pump, built engines (fords). They are a big heavy boat and lots of fun. My advice would be don't try and make it a speedster, just enjoy it for what it is.
Wife and I still miss it.

The liberals are asking us to give Obama time. We agree and think 25 to life would be appropriate.

Hey thanks for the info guys. I had no plans of trying to make it a speedster, but faster is always better, lol. Also it needs a lot of tlc I didn't put any pictures of the engine but it looks like it was attacked by an RTV monster. but thats no big deal I've got some 460 parts laying around should be able to make it look better. Ken F thats some good info.

I thought the Rochelle was an Oklahoma made boat.
