Oh you haven't had a good trailer tire experience 'till you discover about 2 miles from the river that the wheel bearings are SMOKED... like smoke billowing from the wheel going down the road. Pull over... take a look... decide it's not "that bad" and decide to go the rest of the way. Launch the boat, and as soon as the weight of the boat is off the trailer the wheel pops up and starts to float away. Have to jump in the water ans swim after it.

The other one I really liked was when my buddy's trailer tire passed him up on the 8 on the way to the river. Lucky it didn't go off and hit another car.

I just have to say I'm sooo glad I have a tandem trailer... and keep a piece of chain in the back of the truck... always can make it home.

Years ago my buddy Greg and I had a trailer tire and wheel come smokin' by us on the driveres side of the truck while driving to Lopez lake, it only took a second or two to realize it was ours....

good times, i had npo bearings by the time i got home from a 350 mile trip top sacromento delta. it took about an hour to grind the inner race off the spindle, without grinding the spindle itself. by the time i got it off an inspected the entire spindle, i should've just hacked the whole spindle. x2 on the tandem trailer, thank god i have 4 wheels

My first boat: We hauled this turd out to Laughlin for New Years 03.
I never did any trailer maint. before. I just figured that greased bearings lasted forever. Boy was I wrong! Got about 10 miles outside of Needles on our way home. This guy pulls up next to us and points it out. I checked my mirrors and saw smoke coming from a tire on each side. Long story short. $350bucks later, 2 bearings replaced at a shop in Needles, on a Sunday. It was fixed.
Now I always re-pac the bearings before the start of the season.
