    Default Noise reduction

So.... I have been having problems with the local law about noise from my sbc jet. I have tried a couple of different styles of baffles and most of them had major power loss, and still were not all that quiet at idle. I ordered a set of shotgun's from drew marine, and let me tell you these things work very well.

We have not tested it yet with the db meter, but should have some numbers later today. Sure is quiet though, and no noticeable power loss.

All you hard-core over-transom guys better warm up to the reality that, sooner or later, you're going to have to go Thru-Transom, or you'll get to enjoy your boating from on shore.

Every noise test I have seen written is done at idle.
My 4" TT outlets are just under water at idle, not a single problem.

Everyone of us that have been tested, have passed. They were all OT headers, So we are good to go boating.

I am pretty positive that I am going to pass now. This is the first time I could talk to my passenger with out yelling at idle. Even at cruise speed it is much quieter. My friend was following me in his hydrostream (he is used to that) and said he could not hear my boat at all. He was about 50 yards behind me. I bought a db meter yesterday at radio shack and hopefully will get out tonight to do some sound testing.

I am going to try to get the idle set lower, problem is that the blower wants to surge then, I am going to try to tune that out of it with the idle air screws on the carbs.

Those shotguns are pretty cool actually, not bad at all. Little pricey, but not near as bad as a set of thru-transom headers...

I got a set of TT headers but still run the OT's. TT's just dont look as cool with a open engine. I think SS may be a little biased as his engine has a cover over it.
