Default Need help with a berkley jg pump

i have a jg pump that the front bearing went and in turn the impeller, wear ring and the houseing has been groved out. Its a mess i will try to get pictures when i figure out how to use this web site. what my question is if the housing has been damaged will i need to get a new one or can this be fixed by welding and re-sufacing or somthing. if i have to get a new one how much will this run. by the way the front bearing is stuck on the shaft and how should i proceed to get it off
    thanks
    Tim

post up pics for more informed answers, sometimes the scratches are so deep you will need to replace housing, sometimes they can be run as is. as for the bearing froze on the shaft i press them off with a hydraulic press, one can also try to gently slice it off with an air cutter wheel. if you need to replace the housing i see them used on here in the spam section around 300. a new one will be close to a grand from berkley.

i could not get my bearing off. Sent to tom and he had it machined with a new bearing on in short order and back to me. Should solve that issue. Dont know about the damage to the housing.. that stinks...

I would think you need to pull that impeller off and show more pics of the housings condition.

Tim definately a "catastrophy" the suction is "done" as far as I'm concerned Also as discussed , have concerns re the possibility of Crank "thrust damage" due to the Impeller having "walked the crank" forward in the final stages of your failure Tom

Default Thanks tom at jet performance

thanks tom the new pump looks great in the boat, i would put pictures up but i cant seem to get the pics up with out help, we checked the end lash on the crank in the motor and we will have to rebuild the motor, the rear main bearing is WASTED, so back to the shop so we can get it boiled out and the crank turned, new bearing etc... the one thing we have going in our way is that i have another 454 from my boat to put in his so he can get in the water before it gets to cold and maybe the kid can injoy his first boat for a while before somthing else goes. I think we are looking pretty good at this point.
    thanks again
    tim
