Default What would you choose & why?

I'm tossin around a few ideas but wondering what would be the most efficient, reliable, and easiest set up to build and maintain.
I know that none of the options will be EASY or EFFICIENT per say but out of all of them which would you choose and why. Lookin for input on anything other than pure motor.

    A.) Nitrous

    B.) Blown

    C.) Turbo

    D.) Other ???

I'm sure this thread would go anywhere without some specifics so let me give some.

River layup, two seat, big block chevy, 18'-19' and jet.
Hypothetically everything else has been done so we're talkin only motor.

I'm leanin towards building a motor with nitrous but don't know enough to pull the trigger

Theres alot of knowledge on this site that I want to take advantage of and before I start thinking of what I want to build I need input first.

Go ahead and let me have it

We wash our parts in gasoline,
    We drink Alcohol,
And we go racing with Nitro-Methane!

Blower. No Tank take up space and having to refill all the time. No messing around making all custom parts.

Whats the budget. I wouldn't rule out a crate 502 with a new set of heads and a new cam...Easy 700 hp for pretty cheap(depending on budget...)

    Whats the goal?

You can throw 1000hp @ a boat and still only go 80mph. Get the pump right 1st.

Budget isn't a problem. Don't mistake that for endless amounts of cash flow...I still have a wife

But if I built a motor for any of these applications it would be built to match it.

    Edit -
My goal is to see 85-90mph regularly once the boat is equal in its set up. I'm still fussin with the boat but its getting there. 85 is conservative for the boat but I'm lookin for attainable goals THIS season.

Damn, good thing you reminded me

On a serious note... Thats already on the list. The pump was done before I got it and I'm unsure whats all there.

Its a Sunday afternoon and my "wheels are turnin." I keep going in the garage and staring at it trying to come up with excuses to spend money

Then again. Relatively tame and reliable mill that gets pretty good mileage until you hit he button. On tap horsepower and you're not turning all that extra blower hardware (not to mention hauling around all that weight) when cruising.

Everything has it's good points and bad.

I got the same if not better mileage with the blower than I did with the tunnel ram. With the blower at 4500 cruise speed it was making 15# vacuumm. That was with 1 to 1 pulleys.

I'm not the guy to ask but a friend of mine had a pretty cool idea, a blower engine if built right can be changed from a pump gas deal to a major high HP deal just by changing a belt and a pulley.

That pump is tight, but it has no AQ staft and is spinning an Aluminum imp.
Those would need to be switched out.

If it were mine and knowing that engine, I would throw the nitrous to it right now. That would get that boat into the 90's right now. I drove that boat and it ran 84 or 87 ( cant really remember on gps) with a loose set up in front of the avi right before the battery tore loose and shorted out the msd box. I feel with a head and cam change that engine would make alot more power. The heads have been worked but there still oval ports. pm me or Shawn for more on the engine.

This is just my opinion, but:

    Pure HP potential, the turbos.

Pretty hard to beat the wow factor with a polished blower, and has decent power potential and reliability. Little maintenance involved.

Nitrous is simple and effective, but can be tricky in the upper hp ranges. Also limited range for power adder.

For what you want, big cubes and a good effecient NA build should give you all the power you need. If not, add a shot. (the beauty of N2O)

Thanks Futs, appreciate the info. Motor is coming out next weekend (fix all the little oil leaks ), and I'm pulling the boat off the trailer to start the rebuild process on the trailer. With everything apart I was hoping to add some extras in the process. Not gonna hurry or half ass it just to be on the water this season. My pros/cons list has nitrous as the front runner currently , also new heads as well. You and Shawn have been great with the help. I'll be Pm'n you guys as the process moves forward. Thanks again
