Greg, One of my two gas guages stopped working. I want to check the float in the tank but cannot find a way to access the tanks. Any suggestions? Thanks
I don't want to thread jack , but if they're the aluminum tanks there should be a round access hole with a wire going to it on the top with a few screws in it. Remove those and gently pull the float and sender out...they are pretty simple..it's maybe a wiring/ground problem and not the float?
Yes, there is a small jump seat on either side of the motor box. The box lifts from the rear torwards the front. There is a side panel on the other side of the jump seats.
Remove the motor box. Go behind the jump seats and with a 1/2 open end wrench remove the nut from the stud behind the jump seat. This will alow you to access the stud that holds the side panel in.With your 1/2 wrench remove the nut that holds the side panel in and pull the panel away from the side of the boat, then rotate the panel straight up and you should be looking right at the fuel tank sender. Remove the ground wire and with the key in the on position touch the ground wire to the sender wire if the gauge pegs then you have a bad sender.Repeat the same process on the other side.
