I've used 3m trim and top adheasive, have great sucess with it, and can be removed easily when needed. Also have used Contact cement from Lowes, works good, less forgiving than t&t adheasive, don't know how it will be upon removal time. Application is via an old paint gun, glue comes out in a spiderweb fashion, spray the area your working, then coat the material your working, let it tack up then apply. Work in small managable section, so the job do'nt get away from you.

if using the aerosol stull, dont spray it directly on, like using a rattle can paint. spray it level with the surface and let it fall onto the carpet and floor. almost like your aiming a couple feet away. it will "spider web" better that way. spray both sides and wait. let it start to tack and then put it down.do a half a side at a time so it is stuck in the right place.

X2 on the top and trim adhesive. several boats have been done with it. under the deck carpeting will kill a few brain cells though.

I agree with the contact cement and the harbour freight cup gun.

    Default why glue?

Friend of mine who has installed carpet for thirty+ years said just put glue on the sides and let it lay on the bottom (1/4 stringers). He had a jet boat back in the day, son has it now, and said he never glued the carpet down. I was thinking the seats, pedal and diverter handle would keep it in place. Tell me I'm crazy, I can take it.

Funny me, but I used marine carpet glue.
