    Question IHBA Rules help.......

    Does anyone know if there is a minimum thickness required by IHBA for the flywheel cover and driveline cover in a jetboat?

    Does anyone have the IHBA rulebook electronically?

    The newest tech ruls I am finding are 2005's. 2005

    A motor plate must be installed between engine and bellhousing. The plate must be at least 1/8" thick steel or 707t-6 aluminum and cover the entire flange face of the bellhousing,

    All boats must have a 360 degree flywheel cover made of production cast aluminum or the equivalent.

    and:

    No perforations will be allowed in the drive line guard. Material must be 1/4" aluminum or 1/8" steel.

    Check with IHBA for updates.

    Smokin------Thanks for the rulebook. So I take it an 1/8 spun aluminum aluminum flywheel cover won't cut it? When you say no perferations on the drive line cover, does that mean it has to be a solid one piece? It can't be a two piece? Where do you get one of those? Every single one I've seen is a two piece.

    you're flywheel cover should be fine as long as it is 360 degrees (covers the whole flywheel).
    yes, the driveline cover can be 2 piece.

    I would HIGHLY SUGGEST you find someone, preferably a current racer, who has a current rulebook. I know I have read about a number of changes that have been made in the last few years. Hate to see you make decisions based on an old rulebook.

    I would suggest you also post this question in the "Races and Boating Events" forum.

    bp298 and Oldsquirt--Thanks for the info guys! I'm trying to get ready for the local season, but also want to race a couple of IHBA events if I can. Phoenix in the fall and Marble Falls in August, but I don't want to tow 6.5 hrs to Phoenix, or 10 hrs to Marble Falls and not pass tech inspection.

    If you run a solid driveline shaft like a Lenco with out U Joints ,you do not
    need a driveline guard cover.

    Thanks. The boat is also a lake boat, and I've been told and also read that the one piece lenco drivelines are just for drag racing and get to hot when run for longer periods of time. So I am going with a driveline with universal joints.

    I'm in El Paso, Texas. Not exactly sure what class yet, but probably M/E or S/E. Still have to finish the boat and get it tuned.
