That by adding another dump line...it would help with water pressure?? I finished rebuilding my jet now the motor won't run for chit. Probably a good thing because at 4700 r's I'm spiking 30 lbs water pres. I have a cheapie pres. regulator, maybe it's time to upgrade there too.

Ditch the cheapie pressure regulator, I'm willing to bet it's actually a relief valve and not a regulator to begin with. Ditch it, add a 2nd dump line and you should be fine, I have 1 -8 coming in to my motor, and 2 -8 overboard dumps, I get no pressure build up. If you're hellbent on running a regulator, PM me and I'll point you in the right direction.

How long has it been since you pulled the block plugs and flushed out any sand, et al, outta the water jackets? Running a filter on the water inlet side?
Sounds to me like restrictions in the system. Another O/B dump may help alleviate SOME of the pressure, but I think you're gonna see some wild fluctuations in water temp also, which is also not a good thing. Means there are hot spots in the engine not getting water, or its getting trapped and boiling, building up the pressure. I doubt, very seriously, the high pressure is coming from the pump side of things IMHO.

Could try to be more clear, but dunno if you're running logs or headers, and where your pressure sending unit is in the system.

    Just my .02

Either way, 30PSI is head gasket blowing pressure, so it NEEDS fixin now! lol.

Here is a short vid of my boat trying to run. The gauge is on the thermostat housing. At 12:00 it's 15lbs. I didn't necessarily want to turn this into a "what's the best way to do it" deal. But it sounds like a second dump line can't hurt. Normally I run tt bassett's

A second domp line definately will not hurt. A ball valve on the inlet side will not kill you either.

What is the current cooling design you are running? Unless you are running an extreme horsepower level, I doubt 2 dumps is needed. The problem is likely a question of using proper hose sizes and a quality regulator.

Im using a watts regulator and have no "valves" of any design in my water plumbing system. 23psi max at 5800 rpm. Zero troubles.

Yep Tom...30 psi at the thermostat housing. -8 in, -8 out. Pres reg was flowing out -8. And usually another -8 split to the injection lines. I know it's kind of a lame question, but I was trying to get a feel for if another dump line would help much...

Thanks Skip...yep your right as far as the regulator , it's a bypass. I really don't want to run either.... As far as adding an extra dump line, what does everyone think of having a dump line out of the back of the intake manifold? I'm thinking of tee'ing the 2 ports off the back of the intake with a -4 or -6 . Wouldn't that also help with the(potential) air pocket issue back there?

Up the regulator out to a -10 line, take your regulator apart for inspection, sand grit cause them to stick , or bind.

    Mofo,

I think 2 dumps is the best way to ensure no pressure, I personally run 2 off of my T-stat housing, my header water comes from my incoming water, I'm not sure what kind of manifold you're running, but my Team G has 2 tapped ports near the Tstat housing that you could always pull water from. Keep me posted, I'm kinda curious by all this....
