    Default Belton Lake?

Anyone boat on belton lake? Headed there this upcoming weekend and plan on doing a little boating, Any special safety equip? Also wondering how strict the geshtapo is there, as I have ot headers, with baffles in but have never actually been db tested with the baffles (before baffles they told me no way on elephant butte, so I had to change to logs). will probably launch from the sparta recreation area, as that is closest to the girlfriends house. Thanks for any info in advance.

Oh yeah, fresh coat of wax on the tub. Amazing how a little elbow grease makes it shine right up.

    Default Awesome!!!

    Exhaust Water Manifold, Muffler

A motorboat must have an exhaust water manifold or a factory-type muffler installed on the engine.

From the Texas state parks and wildlife website, So as long as I have water on the headers I'm good, right? Hate to travel 600 miles and get kicked off the lake.

I have boated on Lake Belton ( Texas ) many times. You will like the lake. The upper part is more like a river with high cliffs in several places. A lot of coves to slip into. The lower part of the lake opens up and is subject to being rough if the wind is up. The lake should be full pool with the rain they have had. Water injected headers will be fine. The lake is not heavily patrolled especially in the fall. The weather forcast call for sunny and mild this weekend. Good boating.

    Default Nice!

Awesome Texasjet, thanks for the confirmation on being able to run just headers. I will have some fine tuning to do, but it should be an awesome weekend, Probably just me and the girlfriend, maybe a couple of her friends. This will be a great trip to snap a new avitar pic, Boat is finally running worth a sh!t, taking out the waterlogged foam under the old floor may even pick my speed up some, there was alot of water in that stuff.

    Default elephant butte

I dont know for sure, but the ranger that was at the ramp was a complete dick when I tried to launch, He told me the boat was too loud, that the valve that was in front of my basset tee was not alowed, and that there was no water on the headers at idle so they werent legal. I just changed to logs to get on the lake. I have not been back, too many yuppie boats and lake lice chopping up the water. Cabillo is a much better lake in my opinion, way less people and we usually never see a geshapo. The water is dirtier, the beaches arent as nice, but it is worth it for the freedom. We usually camp right by the dam on the far side from the highway, there is good sand there for the kiddos.

I've never been to Belton, but as many other places as I have gone, it seems that as long it appears you are making an effort, they leave you be. If you happened to get snagged they'll probably just ask you about baffles, so if you have a set, may bring them just in case. Thats been the extent of any noise issues I've ever heard of.

Far as any other safety equipment, I don't know if it varies from state to state, but here the biggies are: life jackets for as many people in the boat, throwable flotation device, fire extinguisher, & an emergency "noisemaker" (whistle, horn, etc.)...

Have fun & get some pics...

Thanks devilman, I checked out the texas state parks and wildlife site and it is basicly the same as here, the difference is the lake is actually "owned" by the army corps of engeneers, and as all of us know when it comes to the feds anything can happen. I am taking the baffles and will probably run them most of the time since the G/F will be with me. Pics will be posted after i get back.

Here are a few pics she took today from the shore near the launch. It did fire right up when I got here, and seems to be running pretty good. Yesterday was her first trip out in a jet boat and she said she was really surprised how manuveable the boat was and she loved the roost! I also scared the crap out of her when I forgot to put the plug in before I went out on my own (Scared myself a little too, took it close to shore, jumped out of the boat, threaded in the plug, Thank god for good bildge pumps)

ID:	58413 I need some help posting a short video she took with her I-phone. The Video is a pretty good shot from the side with the diverter up and water in the air.

NM requires a muffling device of some sort, water injection is an approved
method, (some rookie rangers need a little education now and then).

We had one at Conchas tell us the water had to flow out the exhaust
while the boat was idling, we explained (very politely) how the system worked and asked him to check with his supervisor. No more problems.

    Default stock bassett T

i always start and keep rpm's up at 2k, which gets plenty of water going thru headers and looks like possible baffles. many lakes no problems. i do have some kind of exceptible baffles in boat, but this method has worked flawless for years

I Did not see a ranger all weekend, and it was great time. I did keep the baffles in full time.
