    Default I need alittle help

When I get on the it, The belt to the alternator flies off. I figure its when I punch it. Anyone got a better bracket belt combo Idea. Any suggestions or pics will be appreciated.

Write now I have a notched "V Goove" belt with standard automotive type pulley's. The engine is a 502 BB chevy. One wire Alt.

Sounds like your pulley are not aligned with one and other. It doesn't matter what bracket/mounting system you have you need to make sure this is correct or you will pitch belts all day long.

Visually, they look to be in line. I'll have to take a measurement.

Lay a long straight edge across the face of the crank pulley and see where it lines up with the alt. Sounds like an alignment issue.

I had the same problem a few years back Jimmy. It was alignment even though it looked straight eyeballing it and I kept saying it was, it wasn't.

Does your alternator have little cooling fan blades on it? My chicky has a 600 hp sand jeep that used to throw a belt every time she goosed it. It turned out that the alternator was reving so fast that the cooling fins were warping at high rpm and actually pushing the belt off. We just changed the size of the alternator pully so that it wouldn't rev so fast and problem solved.....Just something to look into....

Put a larger pulley on the alternator, They don't need to be zinged like that, frees up a little HP too.
