    Default berkeley disassembly

i have a 12jc on the back of my 77 spectra 20. i looked up in the grate and see the impeller is dinged from prior owner. also id like to powdercoat the parts. my question is how the heck to i take it apart and is there any upgrades i can do to improve the boat. has a mild 460 ford with new parts in it. sounds like a dumb question but i dont want to jump in and not know what im doing. what impeller should i go with . we dont use it to ski but general use. i have a diverter on it now

    PM sent...

It's pretty simple, how far do you want to tear it down?

there is the manual from Berk, 1-13/16" to remove the imp nut and good luck with the impeller, i didn't have the proper puller but i got it done with some effort. leave the motor in till you get the nut off the compression might help you

Just did mine. I got it down pretty easy but I should of taken it apart while it was still connected to engine. I didn't plan on rebuilding it until after I had the engine out and started checking things. If your not pulling the engine you should be able to get a wrench big enough to get the nut off, but then you have to get the impellar of the shaft which more than likely will require a puller.

Here's a link to my project. I should be getting mine back in this week and will update the thread. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about my thread. There are plenty of real experienced guys on here to help you out.

its a project ill be attempting this weekend. i dont think its hard but i have always done v-drives and this will be my first jet. we love the boat and it runs like a timex, i just want to refresh it . i think it would have a "c" impeller in it. what would be a safe impeller for it. its a 460 rebuilt i think 9:1 highflow did the head work. new msd ignition and new 750 cfm carb.
