I have a BBC with about 450-500 HP, and currently have a SW hull. I would like more speed and checking to see which hull would perform better with the power. I'll probably tear the motor down again, and should have about 550-600 HP, but for now I'm just trying to swap hulls. I've always liked the Daytona look, but haven't found a solid one yet. Speeds of 75-85mph, would be great. So would a tunnel or gullwing be a better hull for the speed I want to reach with my motor. Would a SW tunnel or Crusader tunnel be a good cheaper deal, and still easily see the speeds I want?
Being a past daytona guy I have always loved them. If you want to take the family out on the river with it though you might not have any room. A cp type might be better family boat (for straight line speed) or if you an find a rodgers or liberty they make a great river boat with power up to what you have. Southwind tunnels had their problems but worked on can work if going straight. If the family isn't an issue keep looking for a daytona. Call Shoemaker @ GS Marine, he has a great boat and could cut you a good deal if your looking for new.
