Default 1st 2010 Firebird Race & The NJBA

I heard a 'Rumor' yesterday that the NJBA was going to Co-Sponsor this spring's Race @ Firebird with the Lucas Drag Boat Organization ..... Rumor or Fact?

If it is true that the NJBA is going to Co-Sponsor:

    1) Will there be an UBFJ Class, either unto itself if there are enough boats to make a field or, within PCE (if there'll even be a PCE given NJBA doesn't have that Class) if there are not enough boats for a full field?

    2) For open boats, will the 7.70 Rule or the MPH Rules apply?

    and,

    3) Anyone know anything about Purses in the Classes though at this point I'm a lot more interested in where we can get on the 'Clock' to test some things?

Trying to figure out what Association(s) to join and what Races we will attend next year.

7.70 rule applies at all Lucas National events.

Ken Dollar said at the meeting last weekend, you can race any association once you pay at one of them. You will only get points in the one that you join though. If you join NJBA you can race any of the other associations.

Well what i got out of the meeting was, you can race anywhere as many times as you want, and you can pic your top 5 races for points for the year. The thing about that is, the guys back east have more rounds there for more points. Makes it kinda hard for the west coast guy to compete.

Plus, typing so large isn't called for.

There might be things that are going on with the NJBA that do not apply to the Lucas Oil "rulebook"?

Have you been sitting in on all of the NJBA board meetings?

I know for the past 15-20 years, this has been the reason that NJBA has not joined up with any other drag boat association. NJBA is a club owned by it's members and the members vote on what rules they want ... not directed by any private association (Lucas Oil) or one person (old IHBA).

I don't understand you. I have been involved in drag boat racing for a couple of minutes.

All I'm saying is that you might want to step back and make sure that your facts are 100% correct before barking at long time drag boat racers, that's all.

Coming out barking @ people you don't even know might not be in your best interests if you plan on doing this sport for any period of time ... you never know who you might be talking to.
