    Default Cleats

    Let's talk cleats, pop-up style.
Do you think 4.5" is sufficient, or 6"?

smaller is better, some is better than none, none look better than one.

Make sure you get the spring loaded pop-ups, the pull-up will drive you nutz when they rattle.

Why do you need cleats? Are you playing football or soccer? You have a steering wheel and a pump or ski tow to tie to who needs cleats.

Not needed, but I have 16 holes in the deck from standard cleats, might as well see whats out there. I kinda like those mushroom ones, but again, I have holes.

Default Cleats, cleats, we dont need no stinkin cleats!!!

I was lookin around for a little while at different cleats, almost went with some mushroom type pop up ones, but then I was pondering one night and had an idea. I used 1/4'' stainless bolts and nuts through the a hole I drilled on the inside of the gunwhale. I put two in front of the drivers seat, and two just behind the rear bench on the drivers side. I use one for the fenders and one for the dockline. End result is you still have a smooth lookin hull and nothing to smash body parts on. I will try and get a pic tomorrow or something.

    Default my pick

Backing plates are a must, IMO. You can buy them or I make my own whichever they reduce the chance of cracks and make the cleat stronger

Personally I think my pop up cleats look nice, I boat/launch by my self quite often. I don't want to tie off to my steering wheel.
