    Default 540 motor

Saw this motor on ebay and thought i would share it with ya'll. Dont know anything about it or who is selling it but thought it would be a good start to a jetboat project.

Sure looks purdy but, when would a 540 be too much power for a Jet boat...heck wish I had a 632

You would need more than that to get that sled moving...

I agree, pretty weak suck power for a 540 but its got some nice stuff. 9.1 compression? Pretty lame for a jetboat. Seems like a good price for the parts its got? Good starting point for a bigger build down the road.

540 on pump gas should be in the 800 plus range no problem.

I know cyclone and myself built basically stock 502's with afr heads and a roller cam that put out 740hp with stock internals. good pistons, higher compression should yield over 800 on pump gas.

im right at 800 on pump gas with 10.2:1 comp. and mine is a 540 also. some nice parts in that mill, but the heads, cam and comp kill it imo.

Looks like an honest HP estimate, not like some others, price may be a bit much for the market, but go out and built one to see what it costs...
