Is a little more power worth possibly making your engine go BNAG?
Boating is nothing like cocaine, boating is much more addictive and results in bigger parties!

what type of pan? i only run 8-9 qts in my 10qt pan. mostly due to oil psi issues and oil blowing out the breathers.

quite the opposite. A little less oil in the pan will help keep oil pressure up and make more power. Too much oil is a bad thing and you will have oil pressure related problems such as windage and oil getting beat up and foaming from the crank.

When you add tilt to the engine, such as in a boat, this changes the static oil level, often times submerging the rotating assembly. Keeping the oil out of the windage helps maintain cooler oil, and stable oil pressure
