Okay, I post up on this. I speed coated the bottom and I dont know if it made a bit of difference and certainly didnt cause it to be spin out friendly. With that, I will say of all the chemicals I've sprayed in the shop, that was without question the absolute worst and even though I had my respirator, I think my lungs are still recovering from it 2 years later. Nasty nasty stuff to spray.

Good luck with what ever you choose to do...............john

Ask Freedom Child about his results with speedcoat on the SS80.

An no it's not the same stuff you get at the hardware store for 5-10 bucks a can.

Never heard of a boat becoming too loose and spinning out because of speed coat and I know a lot of guys who run it.

I Used the farm implement paint on mine to be honest, I would probably not use anything unless I Had bottom work done and did not want to match gell.

Not to many people ever can tell a numbers gain with speed coat because once the boat is flipped, usually the intake is out getting a shoe, and the bottom is bsing done and while the engine is out something is being done there as well. So there is almost never a strait comparison of apples to apples.
