Default is there a kit to drive the alt off the pump???

getting to the point on my mighty mouse project that i need to think of a alt set-up, kinda difficult on a ls motor so me and hass talked bout driving it off the pump instead. is there a kit you can buy or are they all custom built 1 off dealios??? i'm gonna have a 45-50amp draw when the motor is in full boost mode and the meth injection is on. wanted to go with jus 1 bigass battery, no alt but that's not gonna work

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

    Default Drive pulley

Are you talking about a splined pulley that slides on the spline before the "H" bar? Can't say that I've seen one yet....I've seen all sorts of stuff ran off the back of a snout driven v drive, but there is no drive line back there to interfere. If you come up with a pulley arrangement, just remember an alternator is directional, I think.......I know a generator is......Thinking back, if you had a pulley welded on to the "yoke", it might work...But you'll probably have to mount the alternator to the stringer on a pivot to tension the belt.....It is amazing what you can do if some one tells you you can't!!! I doubt any of this would work with a "3" point mount set up.......Ray

What about the BMR alternator bracket? Its designed for the LS1 style alternator on the LS block.

There were several pictures posted to a thread a month or two ago. Maybe someone can find it and post a link. I think they were all custom made though. Good luck on your search.....

An alternator can be run either direction as long as its new and hasnt been ran in the opposite direction. The brushes tend to wear. It will charge no matter which way you turn it.

This might be one of the crude ones mentioned earlier, but I was proud of it. It might help with the ideas.

Steel pulley welded to the splined section of the drive line.
Cheap Kragen chrome universal alt mounting bracket (on the rail).
An extra turnbuckle as a tensioner.

    It worked good.

I have one made for a Lenco and the alt mounts to a pump brace.

That actually looks very clean. I'd be proud of it too! Definately not one of the crude ones.....
