hit the bottom with 400 wet sand, or spend the money for speed coat.

Default 1983 Bahner limited edition open bow

I just bought a 1983 Bahner limited edition open bow 21ft. Haven't been able to find any others that look like it yet. No open bows anyway. Anyone out there know where I can find some history on this boat maker? NADA says the boat was built in "Winchester, CA." in August of 83'. Hull # starts with BAHBR.

go to the john deere dealer and buy their slipplate paint or dry film paint in rattle cans or brush it on, its the same as speedcoat.

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

Agreed. I've used both and although some will swear there's a difference, I'll be darned if I could tell. John Deere graphite spray worked just like the speed coat and was way cheaper.

Best bet is just a nicely buffed gelcoat or paint finish.

I used the John Deere slip plate and speed coat on two different boats because it was cheap and I didn't want to buy a whole quart of gelcoat to re-do a 1' X 4' area following some bottom shaping. Photo below was the John Deere slip plate $7.50 for a 16 oz spray can. That can would be enough to do this much area on a half dozen boats.
