    Default BBC ignition system

Hey I got a stockish 454 prolly 325 350 hp I'd guess. I'm looking to upgrade or replace the HEI ignition system. I was looking at the MSD pro billet dist, with blaster coil and the 6m box.

I'm wondering if that is overkill for an engine that barely sees 4200 rpm. I can get a "performance HEI" dist. complete with high power coil, brass contact cap, rotor, module, etc for cheap.

Also what plugs are you guys using in your BBC's? Thanks in advance.

I've ran a MSD Probillet, blaster and 6AL box on all my stuff regardless and have had great luck. I just do my best to keep the box dry.

    Good luck......john

I'd stay with the HEI...simple and reliable. Only reason I'm not using one is because it won't fit with my tunnel ram.

As for your cutting out problem, check the basics...cap/rotor/wires/plugs.

I use the MSD "ready to run" billet dist. on the Miller.
    No box, vacuum locked out.
Simple, works great, easy to change weights and springs.
Mine is set up to add around 22* mechanical advance, all in at 2500 RPM or so. 14* initial. 36* total.
It CAN be run with the 6 box if desired, but I have never been inclined to add the box, works good as is on my weekend warrior.

Starts great, buzzes to 5800, no problems ever.
