IMHO...a Magneto is the only way to go ...self contained...no box to break!...puts out more than enough spark...much cheaper than MSD!...i have run one for over 30yrs without any problems ...just sayin' my .02 cents

Hey Unchained!!.....you want to comment on this one?? or i could put in my .02 cents.

    ah i'll just do it....

you need 8 coils=1/8 the work of a single coil=more dwell/saturation=efficient consistent spark even at 7-8k...10k rpms with as much boost as you want. no box can handle it, mags can...they can also kill you.

8 coils allows for infinite adjust-ability up down at any rpm in any way you want. and believe it or not it is quite cheap to go to an 8 coil setup.

ok, carry on with how great the mag is....it was cutting edge about 30 yrs before i was born!!

only reason for a mag is if you can keep the flame lit, high boost or ultra high compression. An electronic ign will out perform otherwise.

Hell Ya! lets throw those mags that the top fuel guys are running in the trash and replac'em with 8 coils & a pile of wires. lol. "NOT"

And the new MSD mags are programable and are being fired from a crank trigger.

Theres a reason airplanes used mags. Its called reliability.

you'll never buy a mag for 700bucks that can outperform c.o.p. ignition, amps is where its at and each individual coil has sooo much time to saturate properly and lite off some serious crankcase pressures, ask unchained let's not forget adjustability and being able to retard/2step stuff like that

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

You can if you buy used. Like you guys do with the cop stuff.

The 2-step stuff is nice but not really needed for the turb stuff we're doing.

Little ? for you guys. Do you think the stock cop stuff puts out more amperage to the plug,at 7000rpms, than an MSD 7AL 3 ?

you'd have to ask mark that hass, didn't he junk a 7al to go to c.o.p. cuz the 7al wasn't firing the plugs?
i don't know bout the 2step bit, i was thinkin it might work to lite the turb off faster on my lil ls motor, what ya think? as we line up, hit the 2step to heat up the exhaust flow, then let out when ready to go?

you think it'd work like that? i was thinking the way we line up inthe coves to race, i could be banging on the 2step and not really goin forward at all, then drop the 2step out and let the boat leave that way. kinda like a launch control
