Default Antitheft device on your boat?

    Howdy,

I was wondering, how many of you are using some form of antitheft device on your boat? Whether it be a car alarm, the club, a bypass, or something else?

I was thinking of hooking up a car alarm in the boat somewhere and using it primarily when its parked on the trailer when camping or just walking away from it for whatever amount of time. I figure that, along with a towable cover, it would be rather difficult for bad do'ers to do bad things to her while I'm away.

So, is this a silly idea or is this fairly common to use an antitheft device on your boat? Especially for some of you guys who have 40k, 60k, 100k, or more into your boats, I would hate to see someone screwing with it or take it out for a joy ride.

So, what do you use to keep your boat safe?

Unless you leave it in the water over night put a good lock on the trailer . The boat is secondary otherwise .

basic viper alarm with a 508D proximity sensor plugged in to the shock sensor port. then add a boat cover, to minimise false triggers. I use pad locks on the coupler so the trailer cannot be easily hooked unhooked. there is also an add on for car alarms that is an open loop sensor for trailer wiring while your boat hooked to the tow rig. so if you arm your aftermarket car alrm with trailer wires hooked up and someone pulls the plug... car alarm sounds off
