    Default Caribbean History

Just curious if anyone knows the history behind the Caribbean brand boats? I can't seem to find anything online. Who designed them? Were they splashes of other boats? They are clearly not still making boats, when did they stop?

Mine is a model '1950' even though it is listed at 18'3" in length, anyone know the designer etc?

Caribbean boats were made by Hardin Marine in Anaheim. At the time my boat was made Hardin also owned a couple of car dealers in the Anaheim area. I don't know much more about the company. The boats were made to order hand layed with full length stringers...at least mine is.

I think, Caribbean was bought up by Harding Marine, if memory serves me the company started in Hesperia or Victorville in the late 70's. Typical to most jet boat mfgrs of the day, drugs and loose women were a detriment to the company.

I think the early Caribbeans were made in Florida, I have the original brochure from mine and it shows a FL address. I'll scan it in one of these days and post it online.
