Can anyone help me!!!! Can this be fixed??? or Do I need a new shaft???

the impy is toast, take an air saw or cutter wheel and disect the impy. if you have not fubarred the threads too bad u shoud be able to rethread them. i use a 1-1/4 12 rethreading die to chase the threads.

You'll have to cut it....when you do, don't cut all the way through. Only cut to about 1/4" or so away from the shaft. Grab a chisel and give a sharp smack to the cut...it should split the impeller hub and crack the remaining material so that it can be removed without damaging the threads/shaft.

When doing this, be sure to support the impeller shaft as close as possible to the impeller so you don't risk damaging the bearing and so you don't risk bending the shaft.

Sorry to say but you better check the shaft. Sounds like its already mushroomed on the end. First trick to pulling wimpy, wimpy impy is heat! Depending on the thread area damage it may be fixable.(cross fingers here)

beat the chisel or a flathead screwdriver into the crack to open the crack, then quit being so wimpy and pull it off.

ok here ya go you dont need to cut it. 1st take off thrust bearing cap and remove all packing. Brace pump front up aganist a block wall or steel beam, put a piece of carpet between beam and pump. now get a nice piece of 4x4 and after removing impellor nut heat impellor, spray with wd40, put 4x4 up aganist shaft end firm and hit with 16 or 24 lb sledge hammer...it will move I have taked apart sea water pumps this way when impellor is welded to shaft,
i actually made a aluminium attachment for my jackhammer to fit over shaft if sledge does not work. NEVER ever had one not move with the jack hammer shot. Just make damn sure the pump is all braced down ect as you do not want that thing to move at all when ya smack it. Good luck they are a bitch.

oh if ya want to get fancy and have a BIG press you can also press it apart but actually the shock works really well.

Just curious. Did you ever consider taking it to someone who knew what they were doing? Or are you going to keep hacking, pounding, chiseling on it until there's nothing salvageable.

WTF is an "Impy"? I looked all over my pump and couldn't find one in my boat. Maybe I need to get one....how much speed will I gain by adding an "Impy" to my jet?
