Default What ya got on the smoker/grill ??

well being Im not taking the boat out this weekend because of all the yahoos and extra boat patrols out there....Im just kicking back at home drinking some cold ones and manning the smoker, smoking a 10lb pork roast for some pulled pork for dinner.

On the new's last night they were talking about all the patrols they have out at the boat ramps checking boat hulls for mussels. I mean geeeze 90%? of the boats havent been in the water since last season.

2 weeks ago I got the shakedown at the entrance to Modesto reservoir. Mussel sniffing dogs, and me having to sign paperwork swearing I had not been in mussel infested water bla bla bla. I was clean and all, but damn there were a lot of cops at the gate. The water is so filthy there anyway, I'm not sure what all the fuss was about. Today I found a loaded diaper discarded at the camp site next to the launch ramp, along with lots and lots of goose poop and duck butter.

Would have rather squished some snails.

They need to check the incoming SUVs for Huggies.

Oh yeah, BBQ is good any time you can get it. Grilled veggies are the best way to do 'em. Love grilled carrots, for some reason...

Awesome. Never heard that tip. I'll try that next time. No bugs today but we are going to the lake. I sure the good times will keep rolling today.

Three briskits and 2 huge slabs of baby back ribs. Sear them on each side and then smoke them for 4 hours. Then double wrap them in tinfoil and freeze them. Freezing them breaks down the cellouse in the meat and sets the smoke flavor. Then when you get hungry for BBQ, put them still frozen and wrapped in the oven about 8:00 am in the morning and leave them in all day till supper time at 180-200 degrees. You've never had a more tender and juicy brisket. Slice thinly across the grain and add a BBQ sauce of your choice. Oh yeah, and Barb's baked beans always taste good with it. YUUUUMMMMMMM! Duane HTP

Had a bolt on shoe and ride plate this weekend(Only joking Duane) can't wait for the items.

Had some Springbok sausage, roasted Springbok leg and 1 1/2" matured T-Bone steaks with Boere pap and smoor. Mixed salads and a lot of Bells and soda.

Still recovering, next weekend it is Gemsbok fillets with Porridge Tart and for dessert fresh Cape Salmon shashimi.

The new castings are going to heat treat this week. So it won't be too much longer.
