    Default airfoiling a rock grate

I had my rock grate off yesterday looking at the impeller just doing a visual.

I hate the shape of the fins. It seems to me like streamlining them can't hurt one bit but might actually help with efficiency.

Has anyone ever done it and picked up anything? Or conversely done it and wish they didn't?

Oh yeah, it's a stock Hardin Marine 454 with 840 square ports with a single plane. (yeah the heads are overkill. They didn't speed the boat up any but my fuel consumption went way down with the added compression)

All those little fingers vibrate when underwater, like a tuning fork, called frequencies. Go ahead and thin them out, see how long it takes to fatigue one and subsequently lock up your pump.
    Kidding of course.

I would think that it would make it a lot easier for debris to get wedged in??? Interesting though

I will put money on the fact that a loader will do more for you rather the rock grate?

Yeah.......dont go sharpening those fins or they will eventualy crack......unless you want a new pump for Christmas?

A loader grate would be a good upgrade idea
