Default newbie ? regarding debri in jet

So after about 15min out I picked up some pieces of drift wood, came home cleaned it out & went golfing. Seems obvious that you can't remove the hand hole cover while in the water ,Right?
What should a guy do as to not let this wreck the day??

I was hopin for a quik fix on the lake. here in bc beaches are few & far ,mostly rock face. puttin the back on a beach sounds like the best option. I was half way up the lake when I picked it up,so was about 45min @ just above idle back to the ramp.there was tons of cramp on the lake as the water level came up alot over the previus week, thats why we didn't keep at it. live & learn

took the boat out and followed a boat threw the channel i had never been to this lake. well when he raised his motor i turned and sucked rocks into the pumpgot them all out except one so me being new to jetting!! so i got to see what the impellar looks like. had to pull the bowl to get thisrock out all good now. but i know now now not to follow a dorky boat ill only follow other boats that are bad boat of some sort.

hey what lake where to on aloute? i had a crap day out there last year with drift wood, the steering never had a work out like that. any way the best is back up to the beach, there was a thread talking about a hand holes extensions to get it above the water line, obviously the trailer thing, my uncle pushes his kid in the lake and gets him to try to fish it out. lastly depending on how far under the water line the hand holes cover it and how daring you are get it at least to shallow water man up and pull the cover, if this is you option make sure you have a good bilge pump.
