Default normal oil temp after a pass

What is the normal oil temperature range after a pass ? I grouted my block this winter & now oil pressure drops after a couple passes . Let it cool off the pressure comes back.

I have seen 220 on my gen V block, idle pressure drops a little at idle, but remains steady under power.

My oil temp gets to about 220-230 after a hard pass. Oil presure drops about 5 psi after but it cools back down to 180-190 in no time.

I plumbed a temporary oil temp gauge into my oil pan . Made a pass in front of the ramp , shut it down idled onto trailer , pulled up ramp & gauge read 240*. Oil pressure went from 70 at warm idle to 40-50lbs at idle after the pass. Reckon the oil is heating up enuff to cause the drop in oil pressure since the pressure goes back up when it cools ?

They don't call you two mile Tim for nothing

10 qrt pan, with what type of oil ?

Our does about the same as yours and we run an oil cooler and most of the time try to run the oil around 190* and then on hard back to back passes it gets 215-225 depending on the number of passes and length.

same things happening to the twin turbo 496 we 1/2 filled. gotta find him a oil cooler, its not crazy high but i like oil around 180-200* to start

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

Yes, that is with a 10 quart pan and synthetic 10/30 oil. If i just make a few 1/4 mile blastd my oil stays around 190ish, its those long 1/2 mile pulls that gets it hot.

    I have done a 3 mile pull above 5200 RPMs with a 1/2 mile blast at 5600.

The water sizzled on my remote oil filter. I made a pass not quite that hard and saw temps (with heat gun) of 215. I am gonna put on a oil temp gauge next season.

ah, 230-250 no biggie. Like to see it over 212 at least to boil off any water in there from condensation and such. consistant 220+ is not a problem.

sorry man, i'm lookin for 1 for him now myself. he's gettin a bad attitude about the deal cuz he thinks it should hold a constant hot oil pressure which is stupid i keep telling him, but he's twice my age and dont listen i've told him time and again its the 1/2 fill that's doin it , to get used to it and quit bitchin

I know that the block being 1/2 filled is logical , but it still makes me squirm too. I'm gonna try plumbing with bigger water lines in & out 1st & then if I have to I'll go with an oil cooler.
