    Default Up on Rrrrr's

So I took off my stock 455 olds intake/650 carb setup and replaced it with a torker/750 (single). It ended up adding 500 rpm's. Went from 4100 to 4600. sound about right?
noticed a lot more mid range pull as well as top end. I forgot my GPS so im not sure about top speed, but definitely felt quicker.

I run a mostly stock olds with a torker and 750, and 4500 is about what I run also. What brand carb? Currently running with a edelbrock 750, thinking of going to quadrajet after this season, Call me crazy, I just like em.

Add a 1" spacer to the setup and it will give you a bit more Torque through the range as well.

You are getting into bearing failure territory with the RPM's you are starting to run, keep an eye on the Oil Pressure

Port match the intake to your heads, that helps a bit as well.

I like them too.....although i have never used one in a marine application

    (i did use a marine q-jet... volvo on a street car application..70 camaro, 327
4 spd 3.08 gears..biggest small block cam chev makes, no headers but big exhaust..it ran better with that car than any of the other 6 i tried and after about 10 hrs worth of tinker time it ran ran really good...169mph on a cool night..by the tach and would get 18 [email protected] mph..the car did have some areo work done)

Although there is a possibility, depending upon application

(and the marine version had a completely different set of internal parts)

That much of the benefit of a q-jet can't be used...the small primary, reasonably precise fuel control....in a boat, it might take more than the primary's to get the boat to work...and then you get to mess with the secondary mix...and get the air valve to open smoothly...Not saying it can't be done....a holley tends to be better suited...and and edelbrock
will work too...but even after working on motorcycle carbs for15 years the Edb seems rather complicated if the setup is way off

While i have never tried it, something as big as an 850 might work well.
    my 455 tunnel ram has 2 660 center squirts...and i can slam a 8 barrels wide open at 2500 in gear...(v-drive with a 40 gear..like 3.08 in a car)
and it pulls like a sob all the way to 5k and probably more if i let it.

And maybe ask around and see if you can find someone who will lend ya a carb for a check ride...at least get an idea of what feels like it might work better

But no matter what...i bet ya learn something....even if it's something that don't work well

Now take the 750 off, put the 650 back on....see if it was the carb or the intake or the combination of both
